Services > Vinyl Mastering

Best regards from Emil Berliner

Not only do we bear the name of the inventor of the gramophone record but we are also one of very few studios specializing in vinyl mastering and the cutting of lacquer discs. In order to provide this service, we cooperate with colleague Maarten de Boer, who has been one of the great veterans in vinyl mastering for over 25 years now.

The Neumann cutting machine we use for vinyl cutting is part of our Analogue Suite which also uses some of the finest tube and transistor treasures that date back to our Deutsche Grammophon times.

References

Many of the LPs you can find in vinyl stores will prove by their sound quality that the effort is worth it. Examples of our work are numerous LPs by Stevie Wonder and Sting as well as classical projects such as the album “Souvenirs” by Anna Netrebko.

“These LPs retain the clarity and punch of the CDs and also offer the benefits of vinyl. My mother would be proud of these records because they sound like her work. That is a credit to the care and precision you applied in your mastering. Thank you very much.”

(Tom Fine, the son of famous producer Wilma Cozart Fine, about the new LP mastering of several albums from the Mercury Living Presence series)

Direct-to-Disc

A speciality of the Emil Berliner Studios is direct to disc productions, where we record the musicians directly on a vinyl cutting machine without any digitalisation or use of tape. To see some examples of our direct to disc recordings, please follow this link to Berliner Meister Schallplatten.
